Care in Action Releases New Ads Targeting Voters Who Are Usually Left Out in Traditional Paid Ads

ATLANTA – Care in Action has released a new $500,000 digital ad campaign targeting voters who are usually left out in traditional paid ad campaigns. Care in Action is committed to reminding women of color voters that making a plan to vote is critical to continuing the high turnout rates we are seeing in many states across the country – and to push past the barriers to voting that have been erected in many of those states.

“These ads are an added layer to Care in Action’s year-round direct voter contact work in key states,” says Hillary Holley, Executive Director of Care in Action. “The organization has been making phone calls and knocking on doors since February to ensure that women of color in Arizona, Georgia, Michigan, Nevada, North Carolina, South Carolina, and Virginia are hearing reliable, accurate information about what’s at stake in this year’s election, and how Democratic candidates are standing up for their rights.”

Polling has shown that family caregivers – including overwhelming numbers of women of color – experience unique barriers to casting their ballot or engaging civically in other ways. The demands of caregiving responsibilities are also impeding people’s ability to engage civically; 36% are having a hard time keeping up with news and current events, and 33% are not feeling informed enough about candidates and/or issues to vote. At the time of the survey, one in five said they have not voted because caregiving responsibilities have made it too difficult, with Latinx voters (28%) and millennials aged 18-34 (30%) more likely to face this barrier.
