This is the second round of endorsements for the domestic worker organization.
Richmond, Va. – Today, Care in Action, the national policy and advocacy home for 2.5 million domestic workers, announced it would back an additional 18 women as part of its $1 million electoral strategy to elect pro-care champions to the Virginia House of Delegates and Senate.

Each of these women have demonstrated through their own personal experience and/or legislation that they understand the challenges that domestic workers face,” said Hillary Holley, Executive Director of Care in Action. “Care in Action is committed to protecting the progress we have made for domestic workers over the past several years. That’s why we are making this historic investment in this year’s primary races.”

Domestic workers and women of color deserve to be heard, no matter who is in charge of the statehouse or who lives in the Governor’s mansion,” said Yanet Limon-Amado, Virginia State Director for Care in Action.
As part of its mission, Care in Action works to elect candidates that center domestic workers and people of color in their policy decisions. Domestic workers, most of whom are Black, Latinx, and immigrant women, are part of the country’s fastest-growing workforce. Black women are also a reliable voter bloc and women of color are a growing part of the electorate.
Care in Action’s electoral program will target key, competitive districts in Northern Virginia, Richmond, Petersburg, and Hampton Roads during the 2023 primary cycle. Care in Action previously announced it endorsed former Del. Lashrecse Aird and Del. Elizabeth Guzman for State Senate, for a total of 20 endorsed candidates this primary election.
In the 2021 cycle in Virginia, voters elected 11 of Care in Action’s 14 endorsed candidates for House of Delegates in the general election. That year, Care in Action’s voter contact program made nearly half a million voter contact attempts via a combination of door-to-door canvassing and phone banking. In 2022, Care in Action made over 10 million voter contact attempts in Arizona, Georgia, Michigan, Nevada, North Carolina, South Carolina, and Virginia combined.
