Yesterday, in an interview with the National Association of Black Journalists, Vice President Kamala Harris reiterated her vision for helping workers and families by lowering the cost of child care and aging and disability care, making paid leave a reality for all, and expanding the child tax credit–while ensuring workers in the care economy get the fair pay they need and deserve.
Ai-jen Poo, founder and senior advisor to Care Can’t Wait Action, issued the following statement on the stark contrast between Vice President Harris’s plans to help families afford the care options that are right for them and Donald Trump’s Project 2025, which calls for tax breaks for billionaires at the expense of workers and families.
“Vice President Harris’s comments today were a relief to every parent and worker who’s struggled to find affordable child care, take care of an aging relative, or balance work and family when a loved one is seriously ill. She gets that care challenges are economic challenges for far too many families. While Harris lays out a vision for supporting workers and families and lowering their costs, Donald Trump is peddling Project 2025 and planning to hand billionaires more tax cuts they don’t need. The choice for workers and families in this election could not be clearer.”
