“Affordable Health Care, Not ICE Cruelty”: Care in Action, MomsRising Together Launch Six-Figure Ad Buy Across Wisconsin, Pennsylvania, and Ohio

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, Care in Action and MomsRising Together launched a six-figure CTV campaign across WI-03, PA-07, PA-08, and OH-01. As families nationwide witness ICE violence and fear in child care centers, schools, and neighborhoods, the ad campaign urges Republican politicians to fund affordable health care, not more ICE cruelty.

“President Trump’s out-of-control DHS is bringing brutality and chaos to places where children and families should be able to feel safest: schools, preschools, and our own homes, “ said Jenn Stowe, Executive Director of Care in Action. “We are demanding that Republicans in Congress listen to Americans nationwide who reject ICE cruelty and want real solutions to the problems they’re facing, especially the costs of raising and caring for a family today.”

“Republicans in Congress made extreme cuts to Medicaid and instead of funding health care,  increased funding for human rights abuses, separating families, and terrifying children and hardworking immigrants who are essential to our care workforce, our economy, and our future,” said Kristin Rowe-Finkbeiner, Executive Director/CEO of MomsRising Together. “Our nation needs a safe and orderly immigration process that balances compassion and security, NOT cuts to health care and NOT cruelty.” 

Background:

• President Trump’s Big Betrayal Bill, which the Republican-controlled House and Senate rubber-stamped in July, cut $1 trillion from Medicaid while boosting funding for ICE and CBP. 
• Almost all Republican Senators voted this month to boost funding for ICE again, while refusing to act to rescind funding from ICE to restore Medicaid funding.
• ICE has targeted care workers like preschool teachers and home health aides who are essential parts of millions of families’ support systems. One out of five early educators and one out of three home care workers are immigrants.

Recent polling shows that 60 percent of Americans support reallocating new ICE funding to Medicaid.
