Washington, D.C. — In response to a stop gap bill proposed by House Republicans that does not address extending health care subsidies for millions of Americans through the Affordable Care Act marketplace, Care in Action – the policy and advocacy home for women who care – released the following statement:
“Republican leaders are making a choice not to stand with the American people. The fight for protecting Americans’ health care has never been more urgent. Republicans already passed legislation that would strip 10 million people of their access to health care, and now are refusing to extend critical tax credits for families who get their health care through ACA marketplaces. As a result, 4 million more people would be priced out of health care for themselves and their families. Congressional Republicans would force more families and workers into uncertainty instead of taking action to lower costs to ensure everyone has access to the care they need. Care in Action opposes these reckless attacks on our country’s health care — this is yet another failure to meet workers’ and families’ critical needs.”
