WATCH HERE: “If Medicaid is cut, what will happen to my granddaughter…My sister has sickle cell… Without Medicaid, whole families will suffer.”
WASHINGTON, D.C. – As Congress debates slashing Medicaid to pay for tax cuts for billionaires, Care in Action is launching a new digital ad drawing from town halls across the United States in which workers and families urged politicians not to cut Medicaid.
The ad will air in DC as in-home health aides, parents, and caregivers come to DC from April 7th through April 14th to advocate for investments in care and against policies that undermine access to affordable care.
“The cuts the GOP wants to make to Medicaid would mean that millions of seniors, people with disabilities, and children with serious medical needs would become uninsured and unable to afford the care they desperately need,” said Jenn Stowe, Executive Director of Care in Action. “Our workers, who provide in-home care through Medicaid, could also lose their wages and the very Medicaid coverage they rely on for their health because their jobs don’t offer the same benefits afforded to other workers. They’ll be forced to leave a field that desperately needs more people, not less. We will be in DC to make clear that families and communities shouldn’t have to lose their health care so that billionaires can get more tax breaks.”
Over the past month, Care in Action organized town halls, office drop-ins, and rallies across Arizona, California, Georgia, Virginia, and New Jersey. See what people had to say:
